Patina - Patination.....My impressions of the art and it's process.

A patina is a surface covering created by a reaction of the 'host' to an outside agent. Like rust on a piece of steel left out in the rain - a patina of rust. Obviously then, nature was the first patineur. There are few greens as beautiful than those etched into bronze statuary found in, near the sea. Thus, in the world of bronze art, a patina is the result of reaction between bronze and applied chemicals, usually in the presence of heat.

The patineur is one who; using heat, chemicals, and a host of other media, places a patina of color etched onto the surface of a bronze. Patination is the one true art form within the process of creating museum quality bronze art: ergo, how the art of a piece affects the patineur, the patina is to affected.

The following links will lead you to the work of seasoned artists and the patinas I have etched onto their work. They represent what I think are among my best work. If these images, the thoughts I have put forth create any questions, please feel free to email me. I will do my best to answer any and all queries. Enjoy!
